Why choose us?

Strategic communications, engagement and marketing save time, money and reputation.

It's that important.

It's also that simple!

Our experience includes leading high-profile and challenging projects for government, that shape cities, build reputations, activate spaces and bring projects to market.

Before Communica, our experience was embedded in leading communications and engagement for government on projects including Revitalising Newcastle, Honeysuckle urban transformation and major renewable energy initiative, the Hunter Transmission Project.

We understand public sector constraints and how to create opportunities. We build advocacy, align priorities with policy and position our clients for success.

We connect the big picture and deliver integrated outcomes that strengthen your reputation and amplify what makes your organisation distinctive.

We don’t think micro, even when the projects are small.

Our Projects

Experience that delivers where it matters most.

From city-shaping infrastructure to complex government initiatives, our work demonstrates the strategic thinking, stakeholder alignment and communications expertise needed to deliver real impact.

Business Activation Strategy

Cessnock City Council

Communica was engaged by Cessnock City Council to develop and deliver a Business Activation Strategy for the Wollombi Road Upgrade Project, a major infrastructure initiative designed to improve safety, access and connectivity.

We designed a tailored business activation strategy to maintain community confidence, protect economic activity and sustain community trust during construction.

Our approach included stakeholder mapping and segmentation to understand the local business landscape, identifying potential access and communication challenges during construction, and developing a targeted suite of activation initiatives to support business continuity and visibility.

The strategy established clear communication pathways and activation measures to minimise disruption and sustain economic participation, including proactive communications, place-based activation and collaboration with local networks.

Queens Wharf Urban Transformation Project

City of Newcastle

Communica led communications, engagement and project marketing for the Queens Wharf redevelopment, a flagship revitalisation initiative transforming Newcastle’s historic East End.

We developed a bespoke communications and engagement strategy to clearly articulate the vision and build stakeholder and community understanding. This was supported by stakeholder analysis, authorising environment mapping and a detailed implementation approach.

Alongside this, we delivered an investor-focused marketing strategy, including an Expressions of Interest (EOI) campaign, bespoke branding and targeted materials to attract investment.

Astra Aerolab and Newcastle Airport Masterplan project

City of Newcastle

Communica led strategic engagement and communications for the Astra Aerolab and Newcastle Airport Masterplan project, partnering with Taverner Research Group.

The project was designed to test the community’s understanding and sentiment of the Airport and its vision as an international gateway,  as well as the community’s understanding of the business precinct and its purpose in supporting long-term economic growth, Astra Aerolab. Communica led the engagement strategy and delivery, including pop-up face-to-face consultation events, online engagement, communications and campaign materials to build awareness and understanding.

This was supported by statistically robust research undertaken by Taverner Research Group to test sentiment and inform decision-making.

Gosford Waterfront

Hunter and Central Coast Development Corporation

Communica supported HCCDC to deliver communications and engagement for the Gosford Waterfront election commitment project, a NSW Government initiative.

We developed a comprehensive communications and engagement strategy, including stakeholder mapping, risk management and targeted engagement activities.

The program included a four-week digital consultation campaign, alongside Aboriginal engagement and Walk on Country initiatives to embed cultural perspectives.
